Revealing Questions
- Q. How would you describe your life in only 8 words?
- A. Fortunate. Hard work and perseverance is paying off!
- Q. What is your motto or maxim?
- A. Do what you love, and never give up.
- Q. How would you describe perfect happiness?
- A. Having the time I need--time for my family; time for my friends; time for my writing career; time to just sit back and read a good book and not be so rushed all the time.
Oh yeah, and there's a little something called the NYTimes Bestseller list. That wouldn't hurt, either. - Q. What’s your greatest fear?
- A. I refuse to live in fear. Fear leads to worrying, and worrying is negative and habit-forming. Screw fear.
- Q. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be?
- A. On Oprah with my book. Next to that, I'd be up in a cabin on Whistler mountain, or in a cottage in Maui with my family, my laptop, and a good book to read.
- Q. Which living person do you most admire?
- A. Anyone who stands up for a cause while putting themselves in true jeopardy. Not so much in a country like Canada, where anyone can call themselves an "anarchist" and face no greater repercussion than a loitering ticket. But for someone like the unknown "Tank Man" in Beijing. That man confronted death. People like that are impressive.
- Q. What are your most overused words or phrases?
- A. "Like" and "totally" and "I've fallen and I can't get up." Ugh.
- Q. What do you regret most?
- A. I have no regrets. People make mistakes. It's all part of learning. As long as you learn from them, even a "bad" experience can be valuable. Hell, sometimes even more.
- Q. If you could acquire any talent, what would it be?
- A. A photographic memory
- Q. What is your greatest achievement?
- A. Being a good father to my kids. After that, getting published.
- Q. What’s your greatest flaw?
- A. I'm an all-or-nothing guy. It's how I get so much done in such short amounts of time. Sometimes, I'm a step away from obsessive.
- Q. What’s your best quality?
- A. Ironically, the same as above.
- Q. If you could be any person or thing, who or what would it be?
- A. Immortal.
- Q. What trait is most noticeable about you?
- A. Probably my dark sense of humour.
- Q. Who is your favorite fictional hero?
- A. Homicide Detective Jacob Striker
- Q. Who is your favorite fictional villain?
- A. Red Mask
- Q. If you could meet any historical character, who would it be and what would you say to him or her?
- A. Probably either Jesus Christ or Mohammad or Buddha. Though I am not an overly religious person, I would love to talk to all of them. Who wouldn't?
My question would be the same universal question almost every other person would ask:
"Why?" - Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?
- A. Genocide, and people who drive too slow in the fast lane.
- Q. What is your favorite occupation, when you’re not writing?
- A. Policing. It's always interesting.
- Q. What’s your fantasy profession?
- A. A professional hockey player for the Vancouver Canucks.
- Q. What 3 personal qualities are most important to you?
- A. Loyalty. Integrity. Compassion. (A sense of humour always helps too)
- Q. If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your days, what would it be?
- A. Coffee!
- Q. What are your 5 favorite songs?
- A. Estranged (GnR). Jesus of Suburbia (Greenday). Miss you (Blink 182). Patience (GnR). Hey Soul Sister (Train)
