The Brontes, Salman Rushdie, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Flannery O'Connor, Truman Capote, Carson McCullers, Shakespeare, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Joan Didion, Mary Karr. Q. Do you have one sentence of advice for new writers? A. Write every day and trust your own ideas! Q. What are your 5 favorite books of all time? A. Wuthering Heights, To Kill A Mockingbird, Shalimar The Clown, House of the Spirits, Cherry. And Pablo Neruda: The Complete Verses. Q. What comment do you hear most often from your readers? A.
